Tyler Perry Explains Kim Kardashian Casting In 'The Marriage Counselor'
Kim Kardashian has been defended by director Tyler Perry for having been cast in his upcoming movie 'The Marriage Counselor'. Writing on his blog, Perry supported Kim Kardashian for playing the role of Ava, a co-worker of the film's female lead character, Judith played by JURNEE SMOLETT.
According to Perry, he cast Kardashian in the film because of the sway she has over the youth audience: "YOUNG FOLKS NEED TO SEE THIS!!!". After seeing a photo of a young crowd piling up outside of one of the Kardashians' Dash boutiques, Perry knew he had to cast her: "I thought, 'What better person?' She literally has millions of young people following her. I thought and still do think, that it would be very responsible of her to be a part of this film. If one of those young people see this film and find the strength to live a better life and not go through what these characters went through in this movie, then we have all done what I feel I'm being led to do here. I hope you understand. I really do!".
Many internet campaigns have been set up against the star appearing in the movie. Furthermore, irony struck after Kim filed for divorce only 72 days after her marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. Kim Kardashian is currently in hideaway until she has to begin filming for the movie.
