Gary Glitter Free To Travel Abroad Again

Gary Glitter is now free to travel abroad again after his three and a half-year ban ended today (26 Nov 2011). According to Sky News, Gary Glitter, who was convicted for being a paedophile is believed to no longer pose a threat to children and so will be free to travel.

Whilst he will be able to travel, the glam rock star does still have to let officers know if he is planning to go abroad for more than three days, and will still remain on the sex offenders' register for life. 67-year-old Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been living in London under disguise for three years after returning from Vietnam where he served a prison sentence for molesting two girls, aged 10 and 11. Pleading his innocence, he was found guilty, especially after being caught possessing 4000 child pornography images in 1999, where then he served half of a four month sentence in Britain. A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police has refused to comment on the matter.

Glitter had some hit songs between the 1970s and 1990s. Glitter had told The Daily Telegraph upon his jail release: "I have an incomplete album that I want to finish. I have been thinking about the plan during my days in jail, I have sung rock'n'roll for 40 years. After jail, I will continue to rock'n'roll". This year, Gwyneth Paltrow was slammed for performing one of his songs, 'Do You Wanna Touch Me', on the hit TV show 'Glee' as children's charities suggested that her performance would earn Glitter some money in royalties.
