Seth Rogen Slams Oscars Bosses Over James Franco Hosting

Actor Seth Rogen has jumped to the defence of James Franco's much-maligned Oscars hosting gig, insisting bosses were too "underprepared" to hire a young presenter.

The 127 Hours star and Anne Hathaway co-hosted the Academy Awards in February (11), but their performance was heavily criticised.

Rogen was upset to see his Pineapple Express co-star come under fire - and he's now taken aim at Oscars bosses, accusing them of failing to provide an age-appropriate script for his pal.

He tells Shortlist magazine, "I think when you agree to do something like that, you put a certain amount of faith in the institution, hoping that they'll take care of you, and I feel like they didn't.

"Why hire James Franco and then give him Billy Crystal's monologue? It was like, 'Oh, we'll hire these young hosts and then we'll just do the same s**t we do every f**king year'.

"Which to me was really odd. I think they just approached it wrong. They didn't think it through, and they were way underprepared. I think they hung him out to dry. So I wouldn't do it unless they hired some better writers."

Crystal will take on hosting duties of the 2012 Academy Awards on 26 February (12).
