Musician Casey Abrams was practically forced to talk about his ulcerative colitis when he was hospitalized midway through the tenth season of American Idol, but he doesn't regret it. If anything, he's glad people are talking about his disease: "It's toilet stuff, so people tend not to talk about it. But it should be, even though there's a lot to do with poop in it."

Abrams, who released his eponymous debut album this week, now regards his very public hospitalization as a blessing in disguise. "I teamed up with the CCFA, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America to spread the word about it, and I did a little music video to kind of spread the word as well, because you know, people watch music videos, so why not make the subject matter about inflammatory bowel disease," Abrams explained via phone. "If you sign up for the fan club and watch the video, then a dollar is donated to the CCFA for research and education."

Abrams is planning to take his show on the road to support the album in the coming months, although he acknowledges that touring is rather tricky when you have ulcerative colitis. "There's so much unhealthy but great-tasting food out there. I'm a really picky eater and I like my candy bars, so you really have to watch out for that stuff. It's kind of a challenge."

The teen sisters have revealed they're working on a young adult sci-fi book that's set "200 years in the future," and it could hit shelves as early as next summer.

"I think we will definitely get it done with how fast [the process] is going," Kylie told eonline. Inspired by the Twilight and Hunger Games books, Kylie and Kendall brainstormed ideas for a story with mom Kris Jenner. With the help of their manager, they got together with a writer named Maya Sloane, and as this very sentence is being read, perhaps Kylie, Kendall, and Maya are crafting the next epic YA property complete with a movie tie-in and merchandising through the highest-bidding fast food chain. Maybe that's being optimistic, but in our experience it's never wise to underestimate a Kardashian/Jenner.

"We want to do something so different, something that we really love," Kendall said.

The two sisters, who profess their love for both Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen, said they're working on a book about, appropriately enough, two sisters. So what will this new futuristic story of sisterhood be called? Kendall & Kylie Take Venus? Keeping Up with the Marsdashians? We can't wait to find out!

Kanye West's extravagant lifestyle soared to new heights this week when he reportedly spent $12,000 on a private jet so he could travel 84 miles across the English countryside.

The Mirror reports the rapper shelled out £8,000, or roughly $12,000, to charter a jet from Doncaster to Birmingham. And by "reports," we mean they found some "mole" that fed them some information that may or may not hold any water. But hey, it's not like the guy's ever been known for his frugality. So who are we to disagree?

Indeed, we already know West loves spending dough on transportation. In the past, he's purchased a Mercedes Benz G-Wagen (retail value $95,000), and an Aston Martin DB9 (retail value $190,000). Given those prices, $12,000 seems like a bargain! That is until you realize he didn't actually buy the plane. No, he merely chartered one — to travel 84 miles.

As the Mirror points out, West could have saved himself a grip of cash by simply taking the train instead. That would have cost him a measly £45. Or he could have braved the British motorways and driven on the wrong side of the road. But alas, he chose to fly. Because he could.

As one of the wealthiest musicians in the world — Forbes estimates he earned $16 million in 2011 — West can afford to spend liberally. But 12 grand for 84 miles? That's nearly $143 per mile, which seems a little unnecessary.

Speaking of unnecessary, word has it the rapper channeled his inner Nicolas Cage and bought Jay-Z a $34,000 golden skull for Father's Day. We hear it makes a fantastic paper weight. And get this: West apparently hand-delivered the pricey gift. How? By chartering a private jet, of course.

Eye on Emmy: A Nominations Wishlist » Celeb News

It's that time of year when TV's best and brightest get a whole bunch of shiny new trophies to decorate their mantles. The 2012 Emmy nominations won't be announced until July 19, but I was never good at waiting, so I've put together a list of the shows and performers I think deserve a shot at Emmy gold. Some things on this list have a good shot at scoring a nod, while others are pie in the sky dream nominations that are probably never going to happen. But it's a wishlist not a prediction list, so let's dream a little, shall we?


1. Community

In what category, you ask? Anything. Outstanding Comedy Series would be a good place to start. Or what about Joel McHale for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy for his sharp portrayal of a narcissistic man unwittingly discovering he actually cares about something other than himself? Or Alison Brie for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for giving the show its spunky heart? Or Danny Pudi for playing one of the most specific characters ever to exist on a television comedy? Or what about the incredibly creative, fearless team of writers, directors, and producers who manage to turn in inventive, offbeat, hilarious, episodes week in and week out? I'm not picky. Any of these nominations will do.


2. Some Love for Genre Shows

Genre shows have long been relegated to geekier Emmy categories like Sound Editing and Visual Effects. But Game of Thrones broke the mold last year, nabbing nominations for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Supporting Actor (which Peter Dinklage won), among others. The nominations and wins were well-deserved, and I think it's time for more genre shows to get the same kind of Emmy love. The quality of Fringe varied this season, but Anna Torv is certainly worthy of a nod for playing not one, but two fascinating characters on the series. And those who might dismiss The Vampire Diaries as Twilight for TV would be amazed at the show's sharp directing and writing, which ticks along at a breakneck speed without ever losing its way. And speaking of Game of Thrones, Lena Headey, Alfie Allen, and Jack Gleeson all did stellar work this season and deserve to be nominated alongside Peter Dinklage.


3. New Comedy Blood

For starters, if Glee gets a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series I'm boycotting this year's Emmys. Not really, but I'm certainly going to bitch about it on Twitter. And The Office was once a great TV comedy but it dipped in quality this season, as did perpetual Emmy darling 30 Rock. It's time for this category to get an infusion of new funny. I've already mentioned Community, but I also think that Louie, Girls, Happy Endings, and Raising Hope are highly deserving of a closer look from Emmy voters. And this is some serious wishlist fantasy stuff, but MTV's delightful teen comedy Awkward. is as laugh out loud funny as just about anything on TV these days.


4. Spotlight on Supporting

If a lead actor is the heart of a show, then supporting players are the lifeblood and vital organs. And some of my favorite supporting actors really deserve to finally break into the pool of nominees this year. Like the impossibly funny Parks and Recreation dream team of Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Chris Pratt, and Aubrey Plaza. Or new kids on the block Max Greenfield (New Girl) and Adam Driver (Girls), who created two of this season's most memorable characters. On the drama side, the fourth season of Breaking Bad was incredibly riveting, thanks in no small part to Anna Gunn's exploration of Skylar's descent into ethical no man's land and Giancarlo Esposito's brilliant portrayal of mild-mannered chicken shop owner/meth kingpin Gus Fring, who will certainly go down as one of TV's all-time greatest villains.


5. Homeland, Homeland, & More Homeland

Just because it's a wishlist doesn't mean everything has to be a fantasy. Showtime's freshman drama Homeland has already racked up its fair share of accolades (including the Golden Globe for Best Drama and Best Actress in a Drama), but it deserves a ton of Emmy love too. It was certainly the best new drama of the season, and Claire Danes delivered an incredible performance as a mentally unstable CIA agent who suspects that a returning prisoner of war has gone over to the other side. Damien Lewis was likewise in fine form, deftly balancing the different sides of his inscrutable POW character. Homeland's writing and directing was top-notch, particularly in the nail-biting Season 1 finale (I'm still not sure my heart rate has completely returned to normal). Homeland's Emmy dominance is non-negotiable.

Whitney Houston is sadly absent from most of the music video for "Celebrate," one of the last songs she recorded before her untimely passing in February 2012. Though footage from Houston's last film, a remake of the '70s classic Sparkle, is interspersed throughout the video, it's clear there's someone missing from the lively house party Jordin Sparks hosts in the clip.

The "Celebrate" music video plays out like a tribute to the late star, with Sparks playing hostess to a number of cheerful, good-looking friends (Sparkle co-stars, naturally) who seem thrilled to sit in front of a baby grand piano and sing along to the song. Later in the video, the guests boogie down in front of a big screen emblazoned with scenes from the film. It's clear this party is all about Whitney, even if she wasn't able to make it.

Nicki Minaj has voiced her thoughts on the violent Drake and Chris Brown feud that went down at Manhattan's W.i.P. nightclub a few weeks ago, and — big surprise! — she's team Young Money all the way. Also, the Flaming Lips broke a record previously held by Jay-Z, Katy Perry wants to be Madonna, and a metal band's frontman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter over an incident that took place two years ago. Here's the music news.



• It sounds like Drake got a serious lecture from his Young Money sister Nicki Minaj after that nightclub brawl that left a bunch of people injured in New York City a few weeks ago. In an interview with the UK's Tim Westwood, Minaj insisted, "I don't approve of talented people doing things that aren't conducive to an amazing career. I spoke to Drake and I told him from the bottom of my heart how I felt. I'm like, 'Baby, you are a superstar and I need you to realize that.'"

Though Minaj quickly insisted Drake had done nothing wrong, she did say that the whole thing could have been avoided: "Sometimes you just need to go to bed. Go to the hotel and have an early nap. There's nothing wrong with that."

Nicki also addressed her decision not to perform at Hot 97's Summer Jam, telling Westwood, "I feel like it happened and there is no animosity, I still love them over there at the station. They've helped me a lot as well."

• The Flaming Lips have broken Jay-Z's record for the most performances in 24 hours, having performed in eight cities between Memphis and New Orleans between Wednesday and Thursday. The band was joined by a variety of special guests along the way, including Jackson Browne and Neon Indian's Alan Palomo. Frontman Wayne Coyne called the experience an "absurd joy."

• Wayne Coyne says he might re-shoot the video for "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" with Amanda Palmer, since Erykah Badu basically called him a jerky egomaniac after he released the first version without giving her any editorial say over the finished product. Maybe the new version will skip over that whole whole "bathtub full of semen-like substance" segment.



• Katy Perry, like pretty much every female pop star, wants to have a career as enduring as Madonna's. In the latest issue of Vogue Italia, the singer explains that her "much darker" next album is partially inspired by the Material Girl.

"I think Madonna, especially in the beginning of her career when she was laying the foundation, was evolving every single time and giving a new visual and a new idea to the public. She kept everybody interested because you never knew what she was going to do next, but whatever she delivered was a solid product."

"I just hope to be the same. I hope to continually make people interested and hopefully in 10 years look back and have written songs that have become timeless," Perry added.

• Lamb of God singer Randy Blythe has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in Prague over an alleged altercation that took place onstage over two years ago. In May 2010, a fan died of injuries reportedly sustained during an onstage altercation with Blythe. A spokesperson for the band claims the metal singer has been "wrongfully accused."

Frank Langella is almost criminally underrated as an actor, so it's about time he gets another shot at carrying a new movie, especially if it involves robbing pretentious hipsters to save a library. Something tells me this should have been enough, but in true Hollywood fashion, they decided to add a robot sidekick with an E.T.-like subplot.


The Sessions

I sure hope this turns out to be more than just Oscar bait. John Hawkes is always fantastic, so I want this to be as well, but there's a made-for-the-Hallmark-Channel sheen to the trailer that warrants skepticism. At the very least, you can bet on a happy ending. (Zing!)


Easy Money

Easy Money is a Swedish film that came out in 2010 under the title Snabba Cash (which, if you ask me, is a way cooler name), but it's only now making its way stateside. As is customary for American trailers of foreign films, there's no dialogue, but the preview does have sweet dinner parties, crime sprees, guns, murder, beautiful women, men in suits, and a stamp of approval from Martin Scorsese, so I'm in! Plus, Joel Kinnamen (aka the new RoboCop) finally stars in something that looks infinitely better than The Killing.

Ever wonder what a game of Telephone would look like if you turned it into a movie and then made a documentary about the process? The answer to that question well likely determine just how interested you are in seeing this film.


Arbitrage

Oof. Rich white people problems. It's going to be a stretch for an audience to sympathize with Richard Gere when he's one part Bernie Madoff, two parts Ted Kennedy circa Chappaquiddick, but at least Arbitrage gives Tim Roth an opportunity to try out another fluctuating, native-to-nowhere accent.


Silver Linings Playbook

Cheers to Bradley Cooper for taking a risk on this one by playing against type, but wow this one falls flat. The trailer makes no attempt to turn the "you're crazy, no you're crazy; isn't love crazy?" into anything remotely earned or realistic. And then they felt the need to throw in Jennifer Lawrence's dance recital for which she happens to need a partner? Yeesh. (On another note: Hey, Chris Tucker, good to see you again.)

Whoa! Tyler Perry drops the lady fat suit for a turn as an action hero? Interesting. Kind of. And how about a ripped Matthew Fox? His veins are going to burst.

Another of Hollywood's hottest and most powerful couples is calling it quits: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce.

The news was released by Holmes' lawyer, who released a statement to People magazine. "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," said Jonathan Wolfe. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

No further information or reason for the split has been given at this time. However, TMZ reports that the pair is worth something to the tune of $257 million and they do have a pre-nuptial agreement. From the early rumors, it looks like things could get a bit nasty between these two. TMZ adds that Holmes was the one who filed, on June 28, and "blindsided" her husband with the news. Apparently he is "very sad" and "didn't see this coming." Rumor has it Holmes is asking for "primary residential custody" of Suri, their 6-year-old daughter, as well as sole legal custody and a "suitable" amount of child support.

Cruise's rep issued a statement shortly after the news broke: "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy to work this out."

The pair got married back in November 2006, in an Italian castle, no less. They welcomed Suri months prior, in April of that year. This was the former Dawson's Creek star's first marriage, while Cruise was married to actress Nicole Kidman for over a decade. Before that, he was married to Mimi Rogers, from 1986 to 1990. It is believed that Rogers introduced Cruise to Scientology.

TomKat, as they were so fondly dubbed, came in at No. 8 this year on Zimbio's annual 100 Hottest Celebrity Couples list. News of the couple's split comes just 10 days after news that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis had split after 14 years.

Looks like Adele is going to be rolling in the diapers!

The Grammy-winning singer, 24, has announced that she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

"I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together," the singer wrote on her website Friday. "I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx."

The singer sparked engagement rumors last February when she was spotted wearing a yellow diamond ring on her left ring finger. She denied the rumors then, but it looks like the couple may indeed be headed towards the altar.

Keeping up with the Kardashians just got a little bit easier: Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are moving back to Los Angeles! Lamar Odom's deal to join the L.A. Clippers basketball team was inked Friday, meaning he and the wifey will be back in Hollywood with the rest of the fam.

The couple, who got hitched in 2009, moved to Dallas when the former Lakers star was drafted to the Dallas Mavericks in December 2011. Odom played with the team for just four months before being dropped from the team when his performance on the court wasn't as great as the team had hoped.

Now thanks to a four-team NBA deal, the star will be back on home turf with the Clippers. He was drafted by the team back in 1999 so this will be his second stint with the other L.A. squad.

Of course the Kardashians (and probably the entire E! production team) are overjoyed about
the news. Kim posted on Twitter Friday: "Congrats RealLamarOdom!!! You are officially a Clipper! Best news ever!!!"

Khloe retweeted Kim's post, adding: "I'm about 2paint my face just 4the hell of it!"

Even Kourtney, who's about to go into labor any day now, chimed in: "I am team RealLamarOdom wherever he goes...but he is a Clipper baby and now I am team Clippers! Such a blessing! Supporting my brother Lam!"

Mr. Odom's Twitter page has been quiet all week, but we imagine he's pretty stoked about the move as well.

Wedding bells are ringing in NYC tonight to celebrate the marriage of Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas. The 54-year-old actor and 28-year-old yoga instructor exchanged vows at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral Saturday, about a year after the two made their public debut as a couple.

Details are slowly emerging from the wedding. So far, we know the bride wore a silk Amsale gown with cap sleeves. The design house also fashioned dresses for Baldwin's teenage daughter, Ireland, and Thomas' mother. The groom wore a dapper Tom Ford tux.

The ceremony was a star-studded affair. Famous faces at the event included Woody Allen and wife Soon Yi, Mariska Hargitay, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Baldwin's brothers Stephen and Billy. The festivities reportedly continued at NYU's Kimmel Center following the vows.

The couple started dating in the summer of 2011 and announced their engagement in April 2012. This is the second marriage for Baldwin, who was married to Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2001. Thomas has never been married and will take her new husband's last name.
