Maroon 5 Walk Away With First Ama Award
Rockers Maroon 5 are celebrating after walking away with the first honour of the night at the American Music Awards on Sunday (20Nov11).
Nicki Minaj and David Guetta got the show at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre off to a blazing start by opening with a dazzling light show as they performed their new collaboration Turn Me On and the rapper's hit track Super Bass.
Minaj was given a standing ovation as she descended from the ceiling in a hot pink wig and metal bodice while DJ Guetta played the turntables behind her.
Queen Latifah presented Maroon 5 with the trophy for Favorite Band, Duo or Group, and the hitmakers were thrilled to see off competition from Lmfao and One Republic to win their first ever Ama.
Taking to the stage to collect the accolade, frontman Adam Levine told the crowd, "This is our first one, this is crazy! I think in order to get one of these you have to have amazing fans. Thank you guys very much."
