Kate Winslet Foresakes Bra To Save Family In Fire

Kate Winslet revealed a harrowing incident that took place for her family while they were on their summer holidays this year, resulting in her having to carry Sir Richard Branson'S 90 year-old mother Eve to safety.

Sound bizarre? Winslet and her two children, Mia aged-10 and Joe aged-7 were holidaying on the British businessman's private island Necker in the Caribbean when a fire ripped through the building they were sleeping in. Talking to 'The Graham Norton Show,' Winslet recounted the story; "It was genuinely very scary. We woke up at 4:30 in the morning to yelling that there was a fire," said the Hollywood A-lister, "I jumped up and ran immediately towards the fire but then realised we might die so turned around, told my children to go in and shut the door and then thought, 'Now what do I do?'"

The Daily Mail reports that the 36 year-old actress continued the story, explaining with some amusement that, "I ran into the bedroom and put on a bra. In disastrous moments like that, you do the strangest things. I started to put on a bra and thought, 'No, that's going to take me too long,' so off came the bra, on came the T-shirt, I grabbed the children and I picked up granny!"

Winslet received praise from Branson for her heroics, but played the incident down, insisting, "In truth, I carried Eve Branson down the stairs . She is an extraordinary stoic, powerful lady and she could have totally made it out on her own."
