Jeremy Clarkson Drops Injunction

'Top Gear' presenter Jeremy Clarkson has dropped an injunction preventing allegations he had an affair with his ex-wife from being made public because he says it's ''pointless''.

Jeremy Clarkson has dropped an injunction preventing allegations he had an affair with his ex-wife from being made public.

The 'Top Gear' host had attempted to block former spouse Alexandra Hall from revealing he had cheated on new wife Frances Clarkson with her, but he has now lifted the gagging order.

Although he denies the accusations, Jeremy decided to unmask himself after concluding injunctions are now "pointless" thanks to twitter.

He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Injunctions don't work. You take out an injunction against somebody or some organisation and immediately news of that injunction and the people involved and the story behind the injunction is in a legal-free world on Twitter and the internet. It's pointless."

He also admitted legal costs - with his bill said to be running into tens of thousands of pounds - also contributed to his decision to out himself.

Jeremy added: "I regretted doing it from the day I took the injunction out to this morning. There is also an assumption of guilt which goes hand in hand with an injunction."

In May, Jeremy, 51, admitted he and Frances - who have three children together and married in 1993 - were living apart, but the couple have been pictured at social events together since.

Jeremy and Alexandra tied the knot in September 1989 but split just a year later.
