"And so I think, at the end of the day, despite the fact that yes, it can be challenging and awkward because you spend so much time around each other, but we get along pretty good mostly because we have shared goals and shared passion for music."

However, Issac admitted as he's never been in a group with anyone apart from his siblings, he can't say whether it would be "less awkward" with someone else.

He added: "I think it would be a lie to say that I have perspective because I've never been in a band with someone that wasn't my brothers. So I'm not so sure I can speak to you about whether or not it would be less awkward with someone else. But what I will say is that relationships are challenging."

The 'Chasing Cars' group are close friends of singer Michael Stipe and guitarist Peter Buck from the American indie band, and they had a feeling that the group would announce their split after their last album 'Collapse Into Now'.

Drummer Jonny Quinn exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "We sort of knew the R.E.M. split was coming. We kind of knew because whenever Michael Stipe was asked about the last album he said he wasn't going to tour it so it looked like the end.

"I think he's really into his art and photography and I think they just sort of feel like they've done as much as they can."

Jonny also said that meeting R.E.M., who formed in 1980, was a major event for the band - which also includes Nathan Connolly, Gary Lightbody, Jonny Quinn, Tom Simpson, Paul Wilson - as they had been a huge influence on them when they grew up.

He added: "They're Snow Patrol fans, we played with them a long time ago and their keyboard player actually came and played a bit on [fourth album] 'Eyes Open'.

"Meeting them was amazing, Gary's first song he ever learned to play was an R.E.M. song so playing with them was amazing."

"I minimise my lists, sometimes I put things on there like 'breathe', so I can tick it off... No, I've achieved everything else I wanted to this year, personally and professionally."

Will has already began compiling his list for 2012 and has set himself a lot of professional targets.

Asked what is on his list for next year, he said: "Cooking course. The French lessons have been a bit sidelined, I was getting a bit too much like a retired person.

"I want to do more dancing, the dance show that I go on and on and on about wanting to do. Some more acting. Possibly a classical record but I don't think I'll have time, depending on other things. And a bit of a travel."

While he makes lists each year, Will insists he doesn't believe in New Year's Resolutions.
