Westlife Deny Rift Rumours

Westlife have denied reports of a rift over the singers' decision to break up the band.

The Irish group - Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily and Kian Egan - announced last week (19Oct11) they would split after 14 years following their Greatest Hits tour in 2012.

Speculation surfaced that the band was divided over its decision to separate, with some members wanting to pursue other projects while others wanted to remain as a unit.

Now the group has released a statement online to dismiss the rumours.

A message on the Westlife Facebook.com page reads, "We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for their kind words and support since making our announcement. Our fans continue to be the best support system we could ever hope for and we thank each and every one of you.

"We know it doesn't make for a good story but regardless of what you might read in the papers this was wholeheartedly a united decision. Obviously there is already a huge amount of speculation as to what exactly is next for us all, but until you hear it from us it remains just that; speculation."
